Project
The project aims to impact SDG #5 by fostering educational spaces that generate awareness about gender related issues and build initiatives to work on solutions to stop gender inequality in communities around the globe.

Role

Project Activities

Week 1
Create an implementation plan on how the project should unfold and determine materials to be used
Preparing the activities that will be done in the following weeks and receiving feedback from the partners and AIESEC
Run the initial assessment needed for measuring the outcome/impact of the project
Introductory session with the beneficiaries, presentation of the volunteers and project objectives.
Onboarding space with partner representatives to understand the current scenario, beneficiaries and discuss about the outcome of the project
Week 2
Activity: Watch a movie (e.g Hidden Figures, 2016) and debate on intersectionality, breaking barriers, and the importance of diversity in diverse fields, etc
Workshop: What does equality mean?
Activity: watch lectures and/or debates (e.g "Power Up 19 Conference") and create a discussing space to get main outputs
Workshop: Exploring the concept of gender.
Workshop: Understanding Microaggressions and Stereotypes - Fostering Inclusive Environments
Conduct a preliminary assessment of gender-related issues in the community by gathering data and perspectives from community members.
Week 3
Workshop: Exploring Masculinity - discuss the roles of men in promoting gender equality and addressing toxic masculinity.
Workshop: The importance of women and gender non-conforming representation on politics
Practice: Perform role-plays that explore inclusion, identity and gender roles
Workshop: Understanding Intersectionality - discussing how various identities (race, class, sexuality) intersect to impact experiences of gender inequality.
Workshop: Inspiration around the world. Let’s check inspiring examples of women and gender non-conforming leadership.
Practice: Analyze women, girls and gender nonconforming people representation on media (present problematic and good example of representation in popular media).
Activity: Discussion about gender roles, stereotypes and how they influence young people identity and future decisions.
Workshop: Gender inequality, women and non-conforming people rights.
Workshop: Women vote and civic participation.
Week 4
Workshop: Outstanding women and gender nonconforming people through time and their contributions to gender equality.
Workshop: The situation of women leadership on the community
Activity: Discussion about violence against women and gender nonconforming people around the globe.
Practice: Identify local initiatives that work towards the eradication of gender inequality. Present the findings and experiences of this initiatives to the classroom.
Personal Action Blueprint: Crafting Your Path to Change - beneficiaries discuss about what will be the actions they take in their personal lives to combat this issue
Run capacity building session depending on the needs and demands of the beneficiaires.
Capacity Building: Empowering others. How to empower those around me?
Capacity Building: Project planning for beginners.
Capacity Building: My rights and how to advocate for gender equality
Capacity building: Public Speaking and Advocacy Training
Week 5
Activity: Plan a final sustainable project with the beneficiary.
Practice: analyze women and gender non-conforming representation on media (present problematic and good example of women and girls portrait in popular media)
Organize a public forum where women and girls can present issues affecting them and engage in discussions with local leaders and community members to advocate for change.
Produce short videos on gender equality topics, using their public speaking skills to convey messages
Activity: Organize sustainable project and create an after-movie/short video.
Activity: Decorate the classroom with thematic material.
Activity: Send invitation to beneficiaries.
Activity: Prepare presentation to showcase the main learning to parents, school authorities and other students.
Open mic and sharing space on "My Body My Choice"
Interviewing local women and gender non-conforming people about their experiences; if possible, showcasing the experiences.
Week 6
Closing day with beneficiaries
Build final project report and presented to AIESEC members and NGO/non-profit representatives.
Debrief the impact of the project, how the beneficiaries developed, discuss about what went well and even better if and include this in the report
Collect data from beneficiaries (you can use surveys, interviews, focus groups, etc.)
Analyse data to determinate outcome/impact results (level of awareness of beneficiaries post-project activities).
